We understand how important it is to spend time as a family, to have some well-earned time out as a couple or alone, and for your children have the time of their lives. There are lots of family friendly holiday options out there, but for many you will always find a compromise – maybe the food isn't quite what you would have hoped for, but the children have a fantastic time so you live with it. Maybe the accommodation isn't quite up to scratch but it's family friendly so you accept it, or maybe it ticks all your boxes but your children are simply tolerated rather than warmly welcomed. We aim for no compromises and believe our unique approach of combining luxury with family friendly really works.

Quintessentially English view of childhood

The things that generations of our guests have enjoyed in childhood – tree climbing, croquet on the lawn, junior cookery and gardening, storytelling, getting messy and generally having lots of fun, are all here! We are about fresh air in abundance and with 1,800 acres of National Trust parkland, there's ample room for children to play, laugh, talk and be themselves.

Accommodation

Ickworth offers a successful blend of contemporary style with the traditions of a great country house. The hotel offers a wide array of fantastic accommodation options for families. There are 27 rooms in the main hotel – 21 are decorated in the traditional style you might expect, but six are modern and chic – so take your pick. They range from standard doubles to interconnecting and suites. The Lodge at Ickworth is perfect for those with an independent spirit; just half a mile from the hotel, it offers spacious accommodation within its own four acres of gardens.
